One of my favorite unsigned artists on FameForward. Again, my taste may differ from yours.
Does the word “unsigned” make you quiver with disdain? Waiting for the record company to introduce them to you? Is there a slight apprehension, along the lines of a new kid you met at a party who doesn’t go to your school?
I cannot say this is the end all be all, but it helps break the ice. Familiarity can clarify.
New Order + Neon Indian + M83 = ISHI
Search New Order, Neon Indian, or M83 and they will show up on your playlist. If you want to cut to the good stuff (I uploaded 2 “ISHI” videos), type ISHI straight into the second search box for ARTIST NAME.
Not exactly a glamorous band, but theTIGERCATS(UK band) are nothing short of charming.
Help me out.
Violent Femmes + ? =

Viktor Hertz (Graphic Designer).
Two things:
1) Loved (still love) this movie. I have a thing for zombie movies.
2) Who knew bathroom figures were cool? Apparently, I made that assumption (unproven if my taste is spot on), because fameforward’s “How to use” and ad campaign (emails because I don’t have any money from venture capital or etc) will feature these guys.

Just say NO to Jango.
Sorry, but FameForward has not even been through the ringer with beta testing and I’m “discouraging” certain sites.
JANGO FEATURES
1) Radio plays/streaming.
2) Pay for radio play (for unknown artists).
3) Lyric implementation
4) Social networking.
May, have missed some, but why list everything? I don’t mean to badmouth the competition, because it comes down to whatever works- works. You should use whatever works for you and provides tangible results. At least, Jango and FameForward have similar goals (to help unknown artists get noticed). Isn’t the music industry about fresh blood? Young people look better onstage anyway (except for the Rolling Stones).

John Lennon, from The Beatles. Unsure of the circa date.
I didn’t even have to identify him. Countless bands and artists have been influenced by Mr. Lennon and The Beatles.

Debbie Harry from BLONDIE. Many female headed bands (not to be sexist), are heavy influence by Blondie.
Example of Older Polaroids. I’ve always been fascinated by Polaroids. Been using them since college.
I agree that the New Music Industry is not coming. Things “are what they are.” But lets not fool ourselves into thinking that what things are is some big messy experiment in industry democratization. Its not - half the industry (production) has democratized and the other half (promotion) has just stayed relatively the same.
Why this disconnect? Simple, because production and distribution technology markets itself to artists and wants to be used by as many artists as possible (Think digital recording equipment, microphone manufacturers, Reverbnation, Bandcamp, TuneCore). But artists are still marketing themselves to the gatekeepers of promotion - whether that means trying to get a booking agency, a write-up in a notable publication, or a TV spot. And the number of opportunities on the promo front really hasn’t increased all that much.
Oh sure, there are blogs and Pandora and whatnot, but those institutions still do not compete with TV, Radio, and well-funded headlining concerts. Only a handful of blogs and publications have a readership capable of breaking an artist, and they’re inundated with requests.
Listeners have more choices than they used to, but since those choices remain tied to what they are aware of (what is promoted to them), promoters still hold the keys when it comes to determining which artists get big and which don’t.

I understand everyone has different taste, but I LOVE WES ANDERSON.
I came across this video, because it was tagged under “Wes Anderson”, aka it had Wes Anderson in the title, which is what the search engine uses to display what you see.
This kid makes funny stuff. I used to make parody videos growing up. Sadly, that was only 7 years ago, but it feel like decades ago.
POINT: I compared his other videos with this one, and anything with his name “Jeff Loveness”, or generic titles did not compare to the attention he received from simply putting “Wes Anderson” in his title.
Fame Association. It helps.
Hopefully, we manage to give these away. The more people I talk to about FameForward, the better.
I know you are wondering why there is a random red pen in the last pic. The shot was lacking color, so I added it. If you are not amused, no worries.
Next post will tell a short story how I gave away one of them (I only have a few, so I’m picky about who I give them to) at a local Vegas coffee shop. Strangely enough, the small event/chance meeting led me to “The Jelly”, a local entrepreneurial meetup every other Thursday at “The BEAT”, near Fremont Street.
Las Vegas is not only for gambling? GASP.
